Business leaders and government officials from around the state met on Thursday, October 30, 2014, for the Tampa Bay Global Trade and Transportation Symposium.

George S. LeMieux, chairman of the board at Gunster, was keynote speaker at the event.
His presentation, “Increasing the prosperity of Florida through international trade,” energized the more than 200 attendees, and set forth a vision to establish Florida as the “Capitol of the Americas.”
The sold-out event featured two panels:
- Guiding Florida forward through executive leadership
- Winning in the marketplace with trade & logistics: private sector leaders
According to the Tampa Bay Business Journal, attendees discussed various expansion projects in the state that will help Florida become an international hub for trade.
