The eighth edition of “Florida Small Business Practice” has been published by LexisNexis, and includes an e-commerce chapter written by Gunster attorneys Michael Cavendish and Nicolas A. Dyal.

The book is intended to be a resource for attorneys who counsel Florida small business owners. It covers the legal aspects of creating, purchasing, operating and selling business entities.

The e-commerce chapter written by Cavendish and Dyal identifies and discusses the legal issues associated with small businesses engaging in e-commerce.

Many traditional brick-and-mortar businesses today maintain an Internet presence, some conduct retail sales online or use the Web for business-to-business purchasing. Third-party advertising is yet another commercial use of the online marketplace. Given this, it is important for practitioners counseling Florida businesses to understand the contours of e-commerce, how it is regulated and the many ways in which it is not subject to regulation. For example, intellectual property, copyright, trademark and patent laws may come into play over the use of a domain name or website content.

See the LexisNexis online catalog for more information or to purchase the book.
