Bob White, an attorney with Gunster’s Technology & Entrepreneurial Companies practice, was interviewed for a discussion about whether Facebook’s proposed site governance changes matter.

Facebook’s current voting system requires 30 percent of all users to participate in order for the vote to be binding. With approximately 1 billion users worldwide, this would mean requiring 300 million people to vote on any particular issue.

White told Upstart business journal the current voting system is ineffectual and inefficient, given that Facebook has so many users.
