Gunster Managing Shareholder Bill Perry and team won top honors in the land category at the Daily Business Review’s “Top Dealmakers of the Year: 2014” awards event on Friday, May 16, 2014. Perry was recognized for his work on the Briger tract deal, the largest real estate deal in Palm Beach County in 2013, and one that is fundamental to the continued development of a biotech industry hub in the county.
In late December 2013, Gunster’s real estate team, led by Perry, closed the $127.5 million sale of the Briger tract, a 607-acre fully entitled parcel in Palm Beach Gardens. Assisting Perry in the transaction were Gunster attorneys Tyrone Bongard, Robert Graham and Michael Sim.
The tract is the largest undeveloped tract east of I-95 in Palm Beach County. The entire parcel is an approved Development of Regional Impact (DRI) providing for the future development of 2,700 homes (1,400 multifamily; 600 single-family homes; 700 apartments), as well as 2.4 million square feet of biotech space, 450,000 square feet of retail, and a 300-room hotel.
Gunster represented the Kolter Group, a West Palm Beach-base company that acquired the entire parcel for investment purposes. Affiliates of the Kolter Group will develop portions of the Briger tract for residential development. The entire property is conveniently situated near FAU’s Jupiter campus and the heart of the biotech cluster in Palm Beach County: Scripps Florida and Max Planck Florida research centers. The county owns 70 adjacent acres that will also be developed for biotech purposes.

In addition to Friday’s “Dealmakers of the Year” honor, Perry has received similar recognition in the Florida business community in the recent past, including be listed among “Power Leaders” (2014), “Leading Lawyers” (2013) and Key Partners (2011).
