Gunster attorney Michael CavendishMichael Cavendish has brought a book club to a food pantry. For the past six months, Cavendish has gone to the Downtown Ecumenical Services Council‘s headquarters and brought over 25 copies of a different book for everyone to enjoy. His efforts were profiled recently in the Florida Times-Union.

Cavendish is a longtime supporter of the council, which provides help to people in Duval, Clay and Nassua counties in northeast Florida.

An attorney in Gunster’s Jacksonville office, Cavendish approached the executive director of the council to pitch the idea for the book club in April of 2013. The council then hosted a pilot program for the book club, which Cavendish became the founder of.

Cavendish has a passion for reading and buys the books, fiction and nonfiction, for the council. He is also looking to branch out and provide more books to people such as injured veterans.
