Gunster shareholder Elaine Bucher was quoted in a recent Bankrate article, “Estate planning checklist for young folks.”
When asked about a power of attorney, and how it may be activated upon incapacity in some states, Bucher said that’s not the case in Florida. “It doesn’t spring to life,” she said.
Even so, a power of attorney may help avoid the court appointing a guardian in the event of incapacitation, she added.
