(Ft. Lauderdale, FL) – Christian Petersen, an attorney with the law firm of Gunster Yoakley, was inducted as a board member of the L.A. Lee Family YMCA of Broward County. Petersen, who is an associate and a member of the firm’s litigation department, was one of six new members who was inducted onto the board of the downtown Fort Lauderdale chapter for the 2006 calendar year.
“The L.A. Lee Family YMCA does so much good for the community, but there are also many challenges ahead,” said Petersen. “I look forward to helping formulate a long-term vision for the group, and to create and implement strategies that can augment the excellent programs in place at the Y.”
The L.A. Lee Family YMCA of Broward County impacts the lives of thousands daily throughout Fort Lauderdale, and has been providing quality programs and services in the Central Broward area since 1948. Lee Family YMCA of Broward County is looking to broaden the area it serves and thus he has encouraged people like Christian Petersen who is outside the current service area to participate on the board. “Finding and embracing a broad spectrum of individuals that represent a cross section of Broward County will give us a greater ability to serve our widening population,” said Artis. “We are encouraging new members from new areas to join our board, and to offer a different perspective as we ring in 2006. We are excited about Christian’s involvement, as well as the others who are both new to our board and those who are returning.”
