Implementing Florida’s Numeric Nutrient Criteria:  July 18 (Wed)10:30 a.m. – 12:10 p.m. These EPA criteria are scheduled to take effect July 6. Implementation will likely generate significant business opportunities for consulting firms in the biological and engineering fields.There will be ample opportunity for exchange between panelists and audience members during this highly technical multipart course designed to explore all of the technical and legal issues involved in the application of Numeric Nutrient Criteria in Florida.

Planning for Sustainability 101:July 19 (Thursday) 8:30 a.m. – 10:10 a.m. This session will provide a basic overview of creating a greenhouse gas inventory, and developing and implementing a sustainability plan. Focus is on energy requirements design to receive stimulus funds.

Essentials on Obtaining an Environmental Resource Permit:July 19 (Thursday) – Capri 7-810:30 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.1:30 p.m. – 3:10 p.m.This course will provide a detailed and in-depth breakdown of all components necessary for the environmental professional to obtain an ERP permit in an efficient and effective manner.

Property Rights Take Center Stage:July 20 (Friday) 8:30 a.m. – 10:10 a.m.10:30 a.m. – 12:10 p.m. This course will discuss the effect of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision in
Sackett v. Environmental Protection Agency, over whether a landowner can contest an agency’s jurisdiction prior to complying with or violating the order. Audience participation encouraged.

Federal Wetland Jurisdiction: July 20 (Friday) 8:30 a.m. – 10:10 a.m.10:30 a.m. – 12: 10 p.m. This course will cover EPA and Army Corps of Engineers guidance over wetlands and other “isolated waters.” Cases reviewed will include Raponos (“significant nexus” test) and Precon (agency guidance documents).

The practical application of the Corps’ current regulations and what the new guidance document could mean for development will also be discussed. The Corps will provide an in-depth discussion of the new wetlands guidance and what the regulated community can expect.
