Overview

A seasoned business advocate, litigator and trial lawyer with more than three decades of experience, William Hill continuously strives to resolve complex disputes in and out of court throughout the country. William focuses on representation that reflects his perseverance and determination to resolve matters quickly, efficiently and thoroughly.

William is the first and only lawyer to be Florida Bar Board Certified in both Business Litigation and International Litigation & Arbitration.  He represents businesses in a variety of industries such as banking and financial services, behavioral health and health care, technology, real estate, aviation, manufacturing, retail and government. William has also advised large public companies.

William represents clients in complex cases, including class actions and international arbitrations. His experience ranges from commercial disputes of all kinds to intellectual property, real estate, securities, product liability and RICO cases. He also advises clients on a national scale in the area of non-compete enforcement and defense.

William is committed to practicing with integrity and devising compelling arguments on behalf of clients. His goal is to take complicated issues and distill them into viable, cogent and persuasive positions.

Notably, William clerked for highly respected Judge William Hoeveler of the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida.

  • Successfully defended public company’s officers in obtaining dismissal of federal securities fraud class action
  • Represented foreign members in U.S. limited liability company dispute resulting in favorable arbitration award
  • Represented manufacturing company in AAA arbitration resulting in favorable arbitration award against multi-billion-dollar multi-national company
  • Represents business clients in claims under the BP/Deepwater Horizon multi-district class action settlement
  • Represented the Republic of Chile in RICO actions against U.S. banks based on former President Pinochet’s theft of government money
  • Represented national real estate investment firm Rockwood Capital in obtaining $14 million arbitration award from JAMS in New York
  • Defended $110 million foreclosure action involving a major Florida mall
  • Represented Chinese company in securities class actions related to “going private” transaction
  • Represents Florida bank in litigation in New York federal court involving sale and servicing of a mortgage loan portfolio
  • Represents executives and companies in non-compete and executive compensation matters
  • Represents law firms as a fee expert
  • Represented U.S. bank in $6 million claims in litigation and international arbitration arising out of the failure of a major Dominican bank
  • Represented shareholders of major Dominican companies in transnational litigation against banks and controlling shareholders
  • Represented lenders and special servicers in commercial foreclosures and receiver actions
  • Represented Guatemalan company in suit to enjoin draw on letter of credit based on fraud
  • Represented major national bank in successful defense of a claim of mismanagement of an investment portfolio, where the claim sought damages in excess of $9 million and we obtained a summary judgment dismissing the case
  • Represented major Mexican company, a subsidiary of Cemex, in successful defense of $28 million arbitration involving non-compete and unfair trade practice claims
  • Represented a crib manufacturer and national retail chain in successful defense of federal consumer class action cases
  • Represents health care providers, other professionals and insurers in False Claims Act litigation, including Medicare overpayments
  • Represented national real estate developer in successful defense of $70 million arbitration
  • Represented American Airlines in a $1.6 billion dispute over the redevelopment of Miami International Airport
  • Obtained numerous injunctions for technology companies involving trade secrets, non- compete, non-disclosure, non-solicitation and unfair trade practices claims
  • Represents aviation manufacturers, including a $36 million accident arbitration
  • Represents major national health insurer in federal litigation challenging insurer’s reimbursement of non-participating providers
  • Serves as lead defense counsel in numerous class actions
  • Represented defendants in major securities fraud class action involving financial factoring
