Overview
The issues affecting utilities, as well as cable and telecommunications companies, are more complex than ever before. From evolving regulatory paradigms to increased environmental requirements, issues impacting these industries have a direct effect on our economy and our day-to-day lives. As a result, it takes substantial experience and specialized knowledge, as well as the ability to work with all critical stakeholders, to navigate clients through the shifting regulatory landscape while also helping them to identify business opportunities.
Gunster’s Public Service Commission team is dedicated to offering such experience and knowledge. Our practice includes a past chair of the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) and founder of Florida’s Women in Energy Leadership Forum, as well as a former legal bureau chief in the PSC’s telecommunications and competitive markets group. Another of our attorneys is a Best Lawyers “Energy Lawyer of the Year.” Our team’s objective is to provide the right mix of lawyers who can readily synthesize how policies will be interpreted and applied, as well as help clients better understand the issues at play while developing strategies around them.
Gunster advises on the full array of challenges facing the utilities industry. Our clients include some of the largest electric and natural gas utilities in Florida, as well as cooperative and municipal utility providers. Our attorneys also represent cable companies and telecommunications service providers in both state and local regulatory matters, and have likewise been engaged by companies in the water and wastewater service industries.
Our professionals have represented clients in both large and precedent-setting cases before the Florida PSC. Our lawyers have handled a wide array of Chapter 120 proceedings before the PSC, as well as appellate matters before the Florida Supreme Court. The firm also represents clients before the Florida Legislature, the Cabinet and the Division of Administrative Hearings.
