The 2016 technical meeting for the American Water Resource Association's Florida section will take place on May 20th in Safety Harbor, Florida. The meeting begins at 7:30 AM at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa. The program is broken down into half hour sessions presented by a wide variety of experts in the water industry. After lunch, a keynote presentation will be given by State Senator Jack Latvala from Florida's District 20. The half hour programs are broken up with intermittent networking sessions.
Registration is available on the AWRA Florida website until May 18. The organization has reserved a limited room block for the event at a reduced rate. Attendees wishing to take advantage of the rate should call Safety Harbor Resort and Spa directly and mention the conference. The cost to attend the meeting is $65 for AWRA members and $90 for non-members.
The American Water Resource Association Florida section is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting understanding of water resources in Florida. They host educational and networking events throughout the year, including a water resources conference which will take place in November.
There are 13 members of the board of directors for the organization from a wide variety of professional backgrounds, including Luna Phillips, a shareholder in Gunster's environmental and land use practice group. Prior to joining the firm, Phillips was a senior attorney for the South Florida Water Management District and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
