Gunster was a finalist last year for Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 2012 “Healthiest Employer.”

Gunster is proud of its wellness efforts. The firm has won similar contests in other regions throughout Florida, most recently placing first in the 100-499 employees category in South Florida.

Key health initiatives undertaken by the firm include

  • Destination: You — a 12-month walking program that utilizes an activity tracker (‘accelerometer’) worn by each participant. These accelerometers are basically ‘smart’ pedometers that can distinguish among walking, running, stair-climbing, etc., and provide participant’s accounts with appropriate activity credit. Info on the accelerometers is downloaded automatically when participants walk past a reader in the office. Participants can monitor their activity online 24/7. Approximately 50 percent of Gunster employees are participating in the program. This is Gunster’s fourth walking program to date and by far the most successful and easiest to administer.
  • Annual health fairs — Gunster hosts annual health fairs, free of charge to its employees, to help raise health awareness and promote healthy living. Approximately 75 percent of Gunster employees attended our 2013 fairs (one is held at each of Gunster’s offices throughout the state.
