Gunster adds trusts and estates vet in Tampa hiring spree

Law360 recently interviewed Brian Sparks to discuss his transition to Gunster from Hill Ward Henderson, where he had served clients for 25 years. Sparks is a dual-board certified wills, trusts, estates, and tax law attorney whose practice includes tax, estate, asset protection, and privacy protection planning for wealthy individuals, business executives, professionals, and closely-held businesses, as well as tax controversy matters against the Internal Revenue Service and probate and trust litigation.

In the article, Sparks discussed his motivation for the move citing the resources and overall scope of work Gunster can provide for his evolving clientele. Furthermore, Sparks explains Tampa is becoming a more competitive area for international connections. Historically, Tampa has never been as robust as South Florida, however, that seems to be changing. “I don’t remember that I’ve seen this much buzz,” he said, adding that the legal market is responding to these changes, drawing talent and growing more sophisticated.

Sparks’ arrival to the firm was preceded last month by the addition of a group of nine attorneys, headlined by William J. Schifino Jr., who served as president of the Florida Bar from 2016 into 2017 and has been named the office managing shareholder.
