DEERFIELD BEACH, FLA (October 30-31, 2008) – George LeMieux, Chairman of Gunster, Attorneys at Law, and Rick J. Burgess, a shareholder in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office, presented at the seminar entitled “Everglades – Current Obstacles and Opportunities Facing the River of Grass.” The program was co-chaired and hosted by Gunster attorney Luna Phillips, a member of the Fort Lauderdale office. The two-day event featured nearly 30 speakers and panelists. LeMieux, keynote speaker, presented “The Future of Ecosystem Restoration and Sustainable Development in Florida” while Burgess discussed high-profile litigation cases affecting Everglades restoration.

LeMieux is Chairman of Gunster. He served as Chief of Staff to Governor Charlie Crist and Deputy Attorney General for the state of Florida.

Burgess, a member of Gunster’s Environmental and Land Use Practice Group, concentrates his practice on environmental counseling, litigation and related regulatory matters.

Phillips, a member of Gunster’s Environmental and Land Use practice group, is a Board Certified attorney and a LEED Accredited Professional. Her practice focuses on water resources, sustainable development, climate change and Everglades restoration.
