Ft. Lauderdale, FL (February 17, 2009): The law firm of Gunster received the Green Law Firm Award from the Broward County Women Lawyers Association (BCWLA) for its outstanding efforts in preserving the environment. As an active participant in the ABA/EPA Law Office Challenge, the firm is committed to adhering to best practices for waste paper management, assuring that at least 90% of paper purchases have 30% post-consumer recycled content. Additionally, recycling office paper is part of the firm policy. Gunster staff and attorneys print duplex (both sides) on printers whenever feasible.

“We strongly believe in preserving our natural resources and doing whatever we can to be a ‘green firm’,” said Luna Phillips, an attorney with Gunster and a driving force behind these initiatives at the firm.

As a WasteWise and EnergyStar partner, Gunster also attempts to save energy whenever possible. Staff and attorneys are urged to take advantage of natural light. Offices have motion sensor lighting, and screen and power savers on computers and office equipment are standard. In addition, the office equipment is EnergyStar certified.

“This kind of recognition is important, and we hope to set the bar for other firms to follow our lead,” added Phillips. “Gunster is proud to be a green law firm and will continue to implement environmentally friendly practices.”
