WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 16, 2008) — David G. Bates, a shareholder at Gunster Yoakley in West Palm Beach, and co-chair of the firm’s Technology Practice Group and Emerging Company Practice Group, has been appointed to the Florida Climate Action Team’s Government Policy Technical Work Group, one of six work groups designated by Florida Governor Charlie Crist.
The purpose of the six work groups is to develop a comprehensive Energy and Climate Change Action Plan that will serve as a roadmap for Florida to achieve or surpass statewide targets for greenhouse gas reductions. The Action Team, which was created in November 2007, consists of 21 members representing a vast range of public and private sector organizations and citizen action groups.
A corporate attorney, Bates concentrates his practice in the areas of buying and selling businesses, business law, Internet and technology, and venture capital. He has authored a number of articles on these topics for an array of national and regional business and legal publications. Bates received his master’s degree in business administration and juris doctorate from Tulane University. He received his bachelor’s of science in business administration from the University of Florida.
