WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (March 10, 2009) — For business owners thinking of selling their business – in either the near or long-term – it’s wise to prepare an effective exit strategy that will create a showcase for the company at its healthiest. These challenging economic times make having a solid exit plan even more imperative. On Thursday, April 23 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., business owners and their advisors are invited to attend a complimentary seminar titled “Plan Your Exit from Business Ownership,” to be held at the law offices of Gunster, located at Phillips Point in Downtown West Palm Beach.

The seminar will highlight how to structure a business for a successful exit; improve profits until it sells; effectively handle confidentiality issues; receive maximum value; sell or transfer to family or employees; and best methods to avoid tax and legal issues.

Co-sponsored by Gunster and Wells Fargo Business Credit, the panelists include four well-known Florida-based finance and legal professionals: Christopher A. Curtin, founder and CEO of Bankers Advocate Group in Jupiter, Fla.; Nicholas Robbins, corporate attorney at Gunster and a member of its Technology and Entrepreneurial Companies Practice Group; Joshua D. Jordan, vice president and relationship manager at Wachovia Wealth Management; and Paul A. Baldovin, Jr., senior regional financial planner for Wachovia Wealth Management’s Financial Planning Group.

Curtin founded Bankers Advocate Group in 1998. The firm specializes in the development and implementation of strategic plans for entrepreneurs looking to enter or exit a business. Curtin, who has also owned a manufacturing plant and a commercial finance company, has extensive experience in manufacturing, cost containment, lending, credit, collections and cash flow. He is a certified primary business consultant, senior business analyst and a machinery and equipment analyst.

Robbins is widely recognized for his expertise in venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate and strategic guidance for Florida companies. He has completed more than $200 million in venture capital transactions and more than $1 billion in mergers and acquisitions transactions. Robbins is active in the technology, Internet and entrepreneurial communities and currently serves as chair of the Board of Directors of the Angel Investment Forum of Florida (AIFFL). Prior to joining Gunster in 2005, he worked in Boston in the wealth management division of UBS Financial Services, Inc. and at the law firm of Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP.

Jordan, who is based in the Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. office of Wachovia Wealth Management, works with a team of specialists to provide affluent families with financial planning, trust and estate services, customized credit solutions, investment advisor services, tax planning, unique asset management, and closely-held business strategies. Prior to joining Wachovia, Joshua was a senior consultant in the Family Wealth Planning Group of Grant Thornton, LLP. He is a certified public accountant.

Baldovin is a financial planner serving clients in Florida. Prior to joining Wachovia, he practiced law for 22 years in the areas of wills, trusts and estates. Baldovin also worked in the tax department of a national CPA firm in its Fort Lauderdale office. He is admitted to the Florida Bar and the United States Tax Court, and is Board Certified in Wills, Trusts and Estates. Baldovin is a Florida Certified Public Accountant.

The seminar includes E4, the book outlining Bankers Advocate Group’s business ownership cycle, plus course material, breakfast and lunch. To register, or for more information, call(561) 882-1331 or visit www.bankersadvocate.com.
