As trustee of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, Perry spoke about the foundation and its Six Pillars™ program, which identifies those aspects that determine a community’s success:

- Innovation & economic development
- Infrastructure & growth leadership
- Business climate & competitiveness
- Civic & governance systems
- Quality of life & quality places
So far, six other states have incorporated Florida’s Six Pillars™ into their planning. The foundation has also developed metric to measure the Six Pillars™ program, called The Florida Scorecard.
