Robert S. Raynes Jr., an environmental and land use attorney in Gunsters Stuart office, was quoted recently in an article about the proposed Oceanside Resort in Jensen Beach. Raynes represents Ocean Properties, which is seeking to develop a 182-room hotel along A1A on Hutchinson Island. The site formerly was home to the Holiday Inn Oceanside, closed since 2004 when it was damaged by hurricanes.

According to the story on TCPalm.com, Martin County planners approved the final site plan on January 16. Next up is county commission OK, expected in March.

Raynes told TCPalm that the timing of the approval process is working out great, considering that Ocean Properties will have one year to get permits and two years to complete the project from the date the commission approves of the final plan.

Also planned as part of the new development: a two-story oceanfront pool area, conference center, expanded parking area, and a new pedestrian crossing to get guests and visitors safely across A1A.
