On Saturday Sept. 24, join Gunster at the 2016 Annual Palm Beach County Heart Walk benefiting the American Heart Association.
The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's premier event for raising funds to save lives from the country's No. 1 and No. 5 killers: heart disease and stroke. Designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living, the Heart Walk creates an environment that's fun and rewarding for the entire family.
Every year, Gunster establishes a corporate team for the walk and spends the weeks prior raising funds for the Heart Association. The Heart Walk is especially important to two Gunster staff members, Linda Holmes and Robin Eason, who can speak firsthand to the importance of funding and research.
"You never know when heart issues may arise," says Holmes. "I was a healthy 53-year-old who exercised regularly, ate healthy and had no medical issues. There was no heart problem history in my family and I never dreamed that I would be the one. Fundraising is essential so that continued research can be done in order to get early detection through regular screening. I have been fortunate that the device I received has enabled me to live my life to the fullest."
"Being born with a heart condition," Eason adds, "I know all too well what goes on in many aspects of the world of cardiology. Just as being an organ donor may help someone in the future to have a long and healthy life, being a financial donor to this worthy charity will also help give someone have a long, healthy life. I want to be around as long as possible to spend as much time as possible with my family. Raising funds and supporting the American Heart Association gives me more of a fighting chance to spend that precious time with the people that I love so dearly."
Please join Gunster to bring awareness and raise funds for such a worthy cause that helps so many, like Robin and Linda.
The fun begins at 8:00 a.m. and the free 5K will begin at 9:00 a.m.
