The Children’s Home Society of Florida is hosting its annual “For the Love of Children” 5K once again this year on April 18 at Carlin Park in Jupiter, FL. Race participants will run or walk along along A1A and back to Carlin Park. In addition to the 5K race, Whole Foods will be providing the families participating in the event with breakfast and barbecue. Whole Foods Market Wellington will also be providing health food demonstrations and tastings as well.
Gunster is proud to sponsor this event, which will also feature face painting, a live d.j., arts and crafts, a “selfie” photo booth and visits from the Palm Beach County fire rescue, sheriff’s office and more.
The Children’s Home Society of Florida aims to build stronger families in the state. 2015 is the 50th anniversary of the organization’s Palm Beach Division. The organization aims to prevent abuse and neglect for children in the area. In the past year, the Children’s Home Society of Florida has touched the lives of more than 16,000 children and families in the state. Since its founding in 1965, more than half a million children and families in Palm Beach County have been served.
The Palm Beach Division of the organization puts on services such as Safe Harbor, Palm Beach County’s only emergency shelter, and provides a home just for teenage mothers and their babies in the area. Those mothers can learn how to care for babies and are empowered to pursue their educational and career goals.
There is a cost associated with registering for this event, and participants are encouraged to buy tickets in advance and save. There is also a free fun run for kids, and the opportunity to become a “virtual walker,” where participants can raise funds for the Children’s Home Society of Florida but not attend the walk.
