The newly established Florida Fellows Institute will begin its first season with an event in Tampa on September 18 called Estate Planning, Including Asset Protection and Business Succession Planning.

The institute was created by the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, or ACTEC, to develop leaders in the field of estate planning. The program is made up of six sessions, which will begin in September and end in May. Sessions take place at alternating locations in Tampa and Fort Lauderdale. In order to attend the program, attendees must be nominated and in good standing with the Florida Bar. Attendees who successfully complete all six sessions will be graduates of the program.

Gunster attorney Elaine BucherElaine Bucher, a shareholder in Gunster's private wealth services group, is on the inaugural board for The Florida Fellows Institute in Tampa. Bucher serves on Gunster’s Board of Directors and her practice is dedicated exclusively to sophisticated estate planning, estate and trust administration and fiduciary litigation. Also attending the event will be Gunster attorneys Alyse Comiter and Cristina Papanikos, who work in the private wealth services group.

ACTEC is a non-profit organization comprised of estate and trust attorneys who have demonstrated high levels of integrity, achievement and dedication to their field. All of the members of ACTEC write, teach or advise on the topic of estate law, and have made significant contributions to the field.
