Gunster attorney Preethi Sekharan has been nominated for the Women of Distinction Awards held by Soroptimist International of Stuart. Sekharan will attend the ceremony where the award recipient will be announced at the Hutchinson Island Marriott on April 23.
Sekharan works out of Gunster’s Stuart and West Palm Beach offices and focuses her practice on assisting clients with intellectual property and trade secret disputes, complex business litigation and corporate/shareholder disputes. She is a member of the firm’s intellectual property litigation and business litigation practices. Sekharan is also a strong participant in the community as she serves as president of the Martin County chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL), vice president of the Martin County Friends of NRA, a member of the Federalist Society and a former board member of the American Red Cross Martin County Chapter.
A nominee for the Women of Distinction, according to the award application, is described as someone who “demonstrates high ethical standards personally, is a recognized role model, has a strong sense of community responsibility and is outstanding in her contributions within Martin County.”
There are four categories of nomination for the award including: business professional, civic professional, volunteer and rising star. Sekharan is nominated under the business professional category. Gunster is proud to support Sekharan at the event from 6 – 7 p.m. on April 23, and to sponsor this event. Funds raised at the event will benefit Soroptimist International of Stuart, a nonprofit. The Stuart chapter of the club was established in 1954.
The Soroptimist International of Stuart is dedicated to enhancing lives of women and their families in the community. The organization provides community service in the area and helps to promote friendships and networking.
