The Council of Institutional Investors is turning 30 this year. To celebrate, the organization is hosting a spring conference and anniversary celebration from March 30 – April 1. The CII is a nonprofit association that calls itself the "voice of corporate governance.”
The event will feature an opening reception, anniversary dinner celebration and after drinks & dessert, all at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, D.C. Additionally, on March 30 CII will host “Corporate governance 101” as an introductory course for fund trustees, but is open to all CII members. There is a fee and space is limited.
Gunster attorney Bob Lamm is one of the speakers at the “Corporate governance 101” event. Lamm is a frequent speaker on the corporate governance topic. He just recently was part of multiple presentations at the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals conference, Essentials, this past January. Lamm is co-chair of Gunster’s securities and corporate governance practice. His practice areas also include corporate and health care law.
Lamm is a senior advisor for the Deloitte Center for Corporate Governance and an advisory director for Argyle.
According to the event website, Corporate Governance 101 participants will learn the role of corporate directors in overseeing management, effective ways to handle proxy voting and how key regulators shape corporate government practices at portfolio companies. Those who attend the seminar will get a certificate of completion. Lamm, specifically, will do the part of the program titled “The board’s role in corporate governance” from 2 – 2:30 p.m. on March 30.
After Corporate Governance 101 there will be a networking reception. All CII members are eligible to attend, but space is limited.
