Gunster shareholder Jim Davis will address the Martin County Estate Planning Council during their 33rd Annual Estate Planning and Tax seminar. The event includes a wide variety of speakers representing different aspects of the legal profession. His presentation will cover "drafting advance directives, ethical and economic considerations."
Some of the other speakers at the event include Karen Gilmore, the Vice-President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Jennifer Waters, an attorney for Fox Wackeen, Paul De Leon, the Institutional Portfolio Manager for Franklin Templeton, Bruce Abernathy, an attorney, and Craig Dreyer, an attorney from Dreyer Law Firm.
The event is located at the Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club and lunch will be provided. Registration is available on the Martin County Estate Planning Council website. The cost for members is $175 per person and $200 for non-members.
The Martin County Estate Planning Council is a group of professionals related to the estate planning industry, including attorneys, certified public accountants, underwriters, financial planners, chartered financial consultants and trust representatives. They provide networking and education in order to further the estate planning profession. The council assists members with understanding and following the laws that relate to estate planning to improve services to the public.
Jim Davis leads Gunster's tax practice. His practice focuses on ERISA and employee benefits law, estate planning, transactional business tax law, corporate and business law, and health care related counsel. In addition to his practice, frequent presentations and publications, Davis also serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law in the Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning (LLM) where he teaches Partnership and Subchapter S Corporation Taxation.
Davis is on the board of directors for the Broward Education Foundation, the president of the Broward Planned Giving Council and serves on the Greater Fort Lauderdale Area Tax Council, among other community organizations.
