Gunster attorneys Luna Phillips and Elizabeth Ross will provide a rules & regulations update to the South Florida Aquatic Plant Management Society at its general meeting on June 30.
Other items on the SFAPMS meeting agenda include:
- safety precautions and alternative strategies for algal control and muck degradation
- proper maintenance of mangrove habitat
- watershed management and the importance of water re-use
Phillips leads Gunster's environmental law practice, and practices exclusively in the area of water and natural resources law before state and federal agencies. Prior to joining the firm was a senior attorney for the South Florida Water Management District and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Ross is dedicated to resolving complex issues regarding consumptive use permitting, water supply planning, legislation, rule development, alternative water supply development, minimum flows and levels, water reservations, and more. Prior to joining Gunster, she served as lead counsel for the SFWMD.
The South Florida Aquatic Plant Management Society was formed by aquatic plant managers in 1996, according to its website, in order to exchange ideas about the biodiversity of plants that grow in and around water – as well as water quality, fish and wildlife.
