From September 30 to October 1, 2021, the Florida Association of Mitigation Bankers will host its 3rd Annual Mitigation Banking Workshop at the Jacksonville River City Downtown Hotel. Gunster Shareholder Eric Olsen will speak on "Selling Your Mitigation Bank," and the program will also feature panelists from the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, SFWMD, SJRWMD, SWFWMD and USFWS.
Established in 2008, the Florida Association of Mitigation Bankers aims to promote and advance an efficient and successful compensatory private wetland and conservation marketplace that supports economic development and ecological function through the restoration of wetlands, streams and species’ habitats throughout the State of Florida.
For nearly three decades Eric Olsen has focused his practice on wetland regulation, mitigation banking, stormwater regulation, consumptive use or water use permitting, water supply and underground injection control. Beginning as a St. Johns River Water Management District in-house attorney, Eric worked with other water management districts to develop the Environmental Resource Permitting program, statutes and rules governing wetland mitigation banks, and rules and policies affecting water supply and water use. He was also involved in evaluating permit applications and resolving enforcement issues.
