Freed to Run 5.0 begins on November 15, 2021, kicking off its fifth year of six marathons in six days benefitting Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA). Founded in 2017 by Gunster Shareholder Mike Freed, Freed to Run raises critical funds and awareness to support pediatric patients and their families in navigating legal obstacles that often impede their health outcomes. In just four years, the event has raised over $1.5 million, with over $400,000 being raised in 2020 alone.
Florida Bar President and Gunster Shareholder Mike Tanner will join Freed on Day One at the Florida Supreme Courthouse in Tallahassee, and the marathon will finish at the Duval County Courthouse in Jacksonville. Teams will take turns throughout the day; while each team member is running their section of the course, their teammates will shuttle ahead to the next relay checkpoint and await their approaching team member.
