Gunster's Robert Fernandez to moderate government procurement panel

Does your business provide goods or perform services for local government? If so, you probably know that local government entities throughout Miami procure millions in goods and services each year by competitive selection. However, some have said the process for how to win these contracting opportunities can be elusive or confusing - especially if you are not sure what decision makers are looking for when they evaluate contractor submittals.

Gunster is hosting a workshop with procurement officers and representatives of some of Miami's largest government entities to provide you with the most current information on upcoming government contracting projects as well as the chance to hear directly from the respective procurement professionals themselves. This will be followed by a reception with invited elected and appointed public officials from these government entities who will also share their perspectives on doing business with local government.

Panelists will include Yadissa Calderon with the City of Miami, Melody Thelwell with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Namita Uppal of Miami-Dade County, Roman Martinez with Miami-Dade College, and Alex Denis with the City of Miami Beach.

Gunster attorney Robert FernandezGunster government procurement law attorney Robert Fernandez will moderate the panel in which panelists will share what business opportunities are available right now, as well as those on the horizon, and give insight into their agency's competitive selection review process and what they consider most important in reviewing all types of procurement proposals or bids.

Fernandez advises on all types of commercial and business litigation such as breach of contracts, business torts, shareholder/member disputes, non-compete covenants and the misappropriation of trade secrets in both federal and state courts. He has also represented businesses in bid protest award disputes before the Miami-Dade County Commission and the City of Miami Commission, as well as various other governmental entities.

The event will take place in Gunster's Miami office on Thursday September 27 from 4:00pm-5:30pm and a reception will follow.
