The National Federation of Independent Business (Florida chapter) event for members and their guests features a presentation by Gunster attorney Ken Bell entitled, "Is your business prepared for the upcoming Florida Supreme Court decisions?"
This is a free event that will include a welcome reception at 5:30 p.m. and then a dinner at 6:00 p.m. at the University Club overlooking the St. John's River in Jacksonville, Florida.
The NFIB is a nonprofit organization that advocates on behalf of small businesses across the nation in the areas of taxes, health care, regulations and more. It has over 325,000 members in all 50 states from a variety of industries.
The NFIB in Florida is concerned with keeping its members updated on the most recent legislation that will affect small businesses in Florida, and providing its members with all of their available resources such as marketing, insurance, legal help, business strategy & tips, tax help, technology and office support, among others.
A shareholder at Gunster whose practice is focused on civil appeals and trial support, Bell also recently argued before the Florida Supreme Court in a high-profile workers comp case. He currently co-chairs Gunster’s appellate law practice.
Bell is a former Florida Supreme Court justice (2002-2008) and, prior to that, a circuit judge in Florida’s 1st Judicial Circuit (1991-2002). When he joined the bench in '91, he was the youngest circuit judge in the history of the 1st Circuit. During his tenure, he handled more than 27,500 cases as a general jurisdiction judge, and was actively involved in seeking to improve the judicial system.
