On September 13-15, 2022, Gunster Shareholder and U.S. Customs and International Trade Group Leader Peter Quinter will co-chair the American Bar Association International Law Section (ABA ILS) Fall Conference. Shareholder William Hill, who co-chairs the International Litigation Committee of the ABA ILS, will moderate the "Mining for Evidentiary Gold: Discovery Proceedings to Obtain Evidence in the U.S. for Use in Non-U.S. Proceedings under 28 U.S.C. § 1782" session. Also in attendance will be Shareholder Joseph Raia, former chair of the ABA ILS, and Shareholder Milton Vescovacci, member of the ABA ILS.

During the Fall Conference, ABA International Law Section members and distinguished guests will discuss shared and differing legal institutions, the future of the profession, groundbreaking issues, hot practice areas, recent developments, and current trends—across Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and North America.

Societies in Europe and The Americas share many legal values and institutions. Liberal democracy, respect for human rights and the rule of law, free trade, and largely market-based economies, tend to be the general rule. But constitutional, legal and regulatory frameworks differ, sometimes substantially, as do legal culture, developments and trends.  These, and other intriguing topics will be considered.
