Press Release

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 17, 2017) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that shareholder Mark J. Ragusa has been appointed incoming chair of The Florida Bar’s Clients’ Security Fund Committee.

The fund was created by The Florida Bar to provide monetary relief to clients who have suffered a reimbursable loss due to misappropriation, embezzlement, theft, or conversion of money or property by a Florida attorney. It is funded by a portion of the dues paid by all members of The Florida Bar.

The committee investigates claims and makes recommendations to the board of governors of The Florida Bar, which retains the discretion to award the payment.

The Florida Bar president-elect Michael J. Higer appointed Ragusa chair of the committee for the term running July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018.

Ragusa’s litigation and regulatory law practice includes health care law, professional liability defense, banking, estate and trust, probate, construction, commercial, product liability matters. He joined Gunster in 2011 and works out of Gunster’s Tampa office.

Ragusa is currently vice chair of the committee, and has served as a committee member for many years, including a prior term as chair.
