As a follow up to his previous article entitled "Let them speak," Gunster attorney Bill Adams is continuing the conversation on gender equality in the legal industry with another op-ed featured in the Jacksonville Daily Record.
In the article, Adams addresses the recent controversy that has made national news about a female litigator from Jacksonville whose male opposing counsel would not agree to move a trial date due to her pregnancy. Discussing the controversy and how the industry can respond with action, Adams states that "In the [legal] profession, gender equity is important or it is not. If it is not, then we continue as we have, leaving such issues to lunchtime training sessions, breakouts at the occasional retreat and broadly worded policy statements."
Through his involvement with the leadership council of the Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center, Adams has served as an advocate for girls and young women in the Jacksonville community helping to address policies and practices that result in the disparate treatment of girls, particularly those who come into contact with the juvenile justice system. He is the managing shareholder of Gunster's Jacksonville office.
