Gunster corporate lawyer Steven J. Boyne recently wrote on the topic of cyber insurance for the Jacksonville Business Journal.
Boyne is co-chair of Gunster's insurance law team, and he works out of the firm's Jacksonville office.
As a relatively new phenomena, cyber insurance underwriters have little historical data or models to guide them toward successful management of ever-evolving cyber risks, Boyne says in the article.
And yet cyber insurance premiums are on the rise, he says, and the costs of similar coverage can vary greatly.
Even so, Boyne identifies trends he's noticed in the course of securing commercial cyber insurance policies. Understanding a company's cyberattack risk profile is important, he says, as is spending the time upfront to work with underwriters to properly assess a business's insurance needs and data breach risks.
