Various news outlets recently reported on the news of Orange County mayor-elect Jerry Demings announcing his transition advisory team. The 37-member team will be led by Harold Mills and Linda Chapin and is full of leaders who will focus their time to provide counsel to Demings as he prepares in advance of his December swearing-in. Gunster attorney Derek Bruce was selected as part of the team that will make an effort to bring Orange County to the next level as they explore innovative approaches to grow as a global destination and diversified economy.
With nearly twenty years’ of practice, Bruce primarily concentrates his work on government affairs and lobbying and serves as Gunster's Orlando office managing shareholder. He represents clients before state and local governments throughout the state of Florida on land use, procurement and regulatory issues. Before joining Gunster, Bruce led the statewide governmental affairs team for one of Florida’s most recognizable entities. A Florida native, he has lived in Orange County since the age of seven and is passionate about the community he calls “home.”
