Florida Governor Rick Scott recently announced appointments and reappointments to Florida's Judicial Nominating Commissions. Gunster attorney Robert Fernandez was reappointed to the Eleventh Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission for a term ending July 1, 2022, and Gunster attorney Timothy Thomes was reappointed to the Sixteenth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission from a list of nominees submitted by the Florida Bar for a term ending July 1, 2022.

Gunster attorney Robert FernandezFernandez represents businesses in bid protest award disputes before municipal, county, and state governmental entities. He leverages his prior experience representing elected officials and candidates on Florida election and ethics law issues to better understand concerns raised by elected officials when doing business with the government. Fernandez also serves on the Federal Judicial Nominating Commission for the Southern District of Florida, and was appointed to the position by U.S. Senator Marco Rubio in 2017.

Gunster attorney Timothy ThomesThomes works primarily on business litigation and contractual matters throughout the Florida Keys and South Florida. He has experience in the entertainment industry and has represented a broad range of clients in commercial law, real estate, construction and wealth and estate planning. Thomes served as special environmental prosecutor for the State Attorney’s Office in the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit, and currently serves as a special judicial magistrate for that circuit.
