Florida Trend recently published its inaugural list of Florida's most influential business leaders. The special publication highlights 500 executives from different economic sectors that are charting the course of the state. Gunster CEO and managing shareholder Bill Perry, as well as chairman of the board George S. LeMieux, were named to the list, which featured personal interviews with each of the influentials.
In Perry's interview, he was asked what he believes to be the most pressing issue facing the state. In his response, he said, "Florida residents deserve, and the future of our state demands a best-in-class public education system." When asked about what most people wouldn't know about him, Perry mentioned he had run the New York Marathon and the Boston Marathon in under three hours.
In the interview with LeMieux, the publication asked about his involvement with the Broward Debate Initiative – a proposal LeMieux has pioneered through Broward County Public Schools, which has more debaters than any system in the U.S. LeMieux also touched on his navigation between the public and private sectors stating, "Each time I returned to the business world, I had to start over from scratch, but each time I gained a better experience set to guide our clients."
