ORLANDO, Fla. (August 29, 2019) - Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, today announced that Nathan Hill has re-joined the firm as an associate in the business litigation practice. Hill began his legal career at Gunster before serving more than three years as a federal prosecutor at the United States Attorney’s Office of the Middle District of Florida. He will be based in the Orlando office.
During his time at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Hill directed investigations for a variety of crimes including financial and securities fraud, international money laundering, narcotics trafficking and violent crime. He prosecuted more than 100 criminal cases and tried nine cases in federal court resulting in the convictions of, among others, one of the largest synthetic drug distributors on the dark web and the leader of a $25 million investment fraud case and real estate Ponzi scheme.
Hill’s expertise also spans to national security and international terrorism, with experience leading investigations as a Joint Terrorism Task Force prosecutor in 2018. In addition to this, he assisted the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Virtual Currency Initiative, where he trained law enforcement agents on virtual currency investigations. At Gunster, his work will focus on representing clients in professional liability defense claims, civil enforcement proceedings and leveraging his trial and litigation experience to grow the firm’s white-collar criminal defense and government investigation defense practices.
“Nathan’s impressive trial litigation experience and skills in determining potential criminal liability in a case will serve as an added value to our business litigation practice, said Bill Perry, managing shareholder of Gunster. “We are looking forward to seeing the work he will contribute to our white-collar criminal defense and government investigation defense practices through his understanding of the federal court system.”
Outside of the courtroom, Hill is a professional musician who performs occasionally in Orlando to help raise funds for charitable organizations in the area. He earned a J.D. from Florida State University and a M.A. and B.A. from the University of Central Florida.
