On June 11, 2021, Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, in partnership with the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida (AACCCF), hosted the annual CEO Roundtable Luncheon in Orlando, Florida.

Derek Bruce, Gunster Orlando office managing shareholder, and Jonathan Osborne, co-chair of the firm’s white collar and internal investigations practice group, moderated the discussion. Panelists included Jamal Sowell, Florida’s Secretary of Commerce and the President and CEO of Enterprise Florida, Inc., a public-private partnership of business and government leaders focused on statewide economic development; and Michael D. White II, CFO of Indelible Solutions, a Jacksonville-based management and consulting firm.

Attendees came from a wide range of industries and backgrounds, and included appointed and elected officials, as well as dynamic business and community leaders across the region.

“It was an honor to speak at the Annual CEO Roundtable Luncheon hosted by Gunster and the African American Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida,” said Secretary Sowell. “Enterprise Florida prides itself in providing assistance to small and minority businesses in accessing capital, entering new markets and creating revenue growth and job creation. It remains our mission to work together to propel Florida’s businesses and people forward.”

The discussion underscored the vast economic and business opportunity in Florida and highlighted the assistance that Enterprise Florida provides to black and minority-owned businesses, particularly in the areas of gaining access to capital, maximizing opportunities for procurement, and expanding into international markets.

“This latest program in the CEO Roundtable series brought together a vibrant mix of Central Florida leaders for a thought-provoking discussion,” Bruce said. “The conversation was particularly relevant to the post-pandemic landscape, as it highlighted the multitude of opportunities available for prospective and current business owners. The future looks bright for entrepreneurs and entrepreneurialism in Florida.”

The panelists explained that the future is bright for Florida’s black and minority-owned businesses, and that, as Florida continues to grow and welcome an influx of new residents, opportunities will flourish in a variety of industries, such as aerospace. Gunster and the AACCCF are committed to partnering with black and minority-owned businesses across the state.
