Edward F. Tancer, a corporate attorney in Gunster's West Palm Beach office, was profiled recently in The Palm Beach Post for his volunteer work on behalf of The Lord's Place, a local nonprofit that aims to break the cycle of homelessness in Palm Beach County by providing an array of services to meet the needs of the homeless and the poor.

One of the things he admires most is that the group treats the population they serve with dignity and respect, Tancer told Post writer Mary Thurwachter – instead of pity.

Tancer recently chaired the eighth annual Ending Homelessness breakfast, which was held on Nov. 18 at the Kravis Center with the theme "Out of the Shadows."

According to The Lord's Place website, there are 1,421 men, women and children in Palm Beach County who are homeless and in need this holiday season. Find out more about the organization on their website, visit them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter.

As readers can tell from the Post profile, Tancer is big on giving back to the community. Other civic organizations he is proud to participate in include:
