Brian Seymour, co-chair of Gunster's real property law practice group, was quoted in a June 21 Palm Beach Post article about the new Major League Baseball spring training complex planned for West Palm Beach.

As representative for the MLB teams that will be using the $135 million complex, Seymour presented the teams' case to the city's planning board Tuesday evening.

Among the waivers to city rules sought for the project is one for a 100-foot-high netting along the east side of the complex, which is intended to protect stray baseballs from hitting vehicles traveling along Military Trail.

The 160-acre training complex is planned for the area between Military Trail and Haverhill Road, south of 45th Street.

Time is of the essence, Seymour told Post reporter Joe Capozzi, indicating the complex is scheduled to open by January 2017 – some 20 years since spring training was last held in West Palm Beach.
