Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is bolstering its Real Property capabilities with two key additions. Stephen L. Kussner, who joined as a shareholder, and Glen Kussner, as an associate, are spearheading this enhancement in the firm’s Tampa office, accompanied by the support of paralegal Sherry Rossburg.
Stephen, a seasoned real estate advisor, brings over four decades of experience in successfully closing complex transactions and portfolio deals across 40 states. Throughout his career, he has catered to a diverse clientele, including national homebuilders, developers, investors, REITs, commercial landlords and tenants, public and private companies, insurance companies and high net-worth individuals. Stephen's expertise spans various commercial property types and investment portfolios, such as regional malls, shopping centers, apartments, data centers, hospitals, offices and subdivisions. His proficiency extends to large-scale acquisitions, dispositions, financings and DST transactions, as well as providing representation for institutional lenders and borrowers in both conventional and securitized loans.
Glen, a skilled real estate attorney, has adeptly served a wide range of clients, including national homebuilders, investment firms, individual investors, healthcare companies and REITs. With transactions spanning both Florida and the broader nation, Glen’s specialized focus includes the acquisition and disposition of shopping centers, multifamily apartment buildings and extensive land tracts earmarked for residential development. Beyond transactions, Glen provides comprehensive guidance to landlords and tenants involved in leasing agreements for shopping center space, restaurants and medical offices, as well as matters related to the leasing, management and operation of multifamily apartment assets.
“Stephen and Glen embody the collaborative spirit and expertise that define Gunster's legacy in real estate law,” said Bill Perry, CEO and managing shareholder of Gunster. “Since 1925, our firm has been committed to navigating Florida's dynamic real estate market with excellence, and their anticipated contributions align well with our commitment to providing insightful legal counsel on the state’s most complex real estate issues."
Stephen and Glen's distinguished reputation is demonstrated through industry recognition. Stephen has been honored nine times since 2004 as part of Florida Trend’s 'Legal Elite' and has been consistently recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America for Real Estate Law since 2003. Additionally, Glen received the Dean’s Achievement Award in 2017 for outstanding performance in Real Estate Transactions during his time at the University of Texas School of Law.
