WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 12, 2018) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, today announced that Jason Murray has joined the firm’s Miami office as a shareholder focusing on franchise and distribution law.
Murray’s practice includes providing counsel and assistance with creating, managing, licensing, protecting and enforcing franchised business relationships, product distribution systems and dealership networks. More specifically, his focus is on licensing and development, regulation and compliance, and dispute resolution through mediation, arbitration and litigation.
“Florida is home to a robust franchising and licensing industry and Jason’s addition to our firm adds a new level of experience that will benefit our statewide business clients,” said Gunster managing shareholder Bill Perry. “Recruiting top talent will continue to be a major focus for our firm in 2018 as we seek opportunities to further strengthen our full-service capabilities.”
With the addition of Murray, Gunster continues to expand and diversify with several recent hires such as Ronald Brisé, Jorge Zamora Jr. , Lawrence Horsburgh, and Bethany Pappas.
In addition to Murray’s extensive franchising clientele, he is an accomplished speaker and presenter having frequently been tapped to present at franchise industry events nationwide. He is also well-noted in the community for his service as past president of the Dade County Bar Association, where he was the first African-American to be elected to the position. Murray’s service also includes formerly chairing the diversity committee of the business law section of the Florida Bar.
Prior to joining Gunster, Murray operated his own Miami-based firm specializing in franchising and distribution, trade regulation and intellectual property and business litigation.
He holds a J.D. from University of Virginia School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Duke University.
