WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (June 22, 2018) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, today announced that Barbara Bolton Litten has joined the firm as a shareholder of the expanding business litigation practice. She will be based in the West Palm Beach office.
Litten will focus her practice on managing and coordinating complex litigation. She will advise on claims that range from business litigation and first amendment law, to trust and estate disputes and products liability defense. Additionally, her practice will include the resolution of litigation involving insurance and corporate clients, ERISA, fraud, coverage, sales practices and investigations, pharmaceutical and medical device defense, and professional liability.
“Barbara’s unique range of expertise, including her proficiency in managing multi-jurisdictional and multi-party legal proceedings, will assist in continuing to advance the capabilities of our business litigation practice as a whole,” said Gunster managing shareholder Bill Perry. “Her nationwide reach and extensive experience will further imprint Gunster as a leader in Florida.”
Before joining Gunster, Litten focused her litigation practice on the healthcare, pharmaceutical and medical device industries, where she defended hundreds of cases in federal, state and multidistrict proceedings. Additionally, Litten created and managed a "virtual law firm", comprised of more than 50 experienced trust counsel, tasked with addressing fiduciary and trust administration transitions in 30 states.
Prior to entering the legal field, Litten served as the CEO of a $1.2 million not-for-profit organization serving five counties in Southwest Florida, where she worked with the board of directors and advisory boards, lobbied public policy issues in Tallahassee and Washington D.C., and coordinated strategic planning, program and resource development to meet the needs of the multiple communities served by the organization.
Litten is an active member of her community which currently includes serving as a member of the board of directors for the Southern Legal Counsel and as the governance and compliance committee chair and secretary of the board of directors for Trustbridge, Inc. In addition, since becoming a lawyer, Litten has been involved in multiple professional associations and memberships, including membership with the Palm Beach County Bar Association.
She holds a J.D. from University of Florida Frederic G. Levin College of Law.
