WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (April 12, 2017) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that on March 31 shareholder Gregor J. Schwinghammer was reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 15th Judicial Circuit, serving Palm Beach County.
His current term runs from March 31, 2017, through July 1, 2020. Schwinghammer was first appointed by Gov. Scott to the commission in 2012. Three years into that term, he was elected chair of the commission.
Schwinghammer is a business litigator who joined Gunster in 1996. Prior to his legal career, he was a cavalry officer in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and Kuwait.
Judicial Nominating Commissions are nine-member groups appointed by the governor who locate, recruit, investigate and evaluate applicants for judicial office vacancies. Commission members submit three to six names of the most highly qualified applicants to the governor, who makes the final selection from the list.
Most recently, Schwinghammer was named chair of a Florida Bar grievance committee, overseeing investigation of possible lawyer misconduct.
