Recently, the Hillsborough County Bar Association (HCBA) selected Gunster shareholder Alexis Buese as a member of its Leadership Institute Class of 2021-22. Gunster attorney Jounice Nealy-Brown currently co-chairs the program.
With a membership of nearly 4,000 attorneys, judges and legal professionals. the HCBA is one of the largest voluntary bar associations in Florida. Its mission is to inspire and promote respect for the law and the justice system through service to the legal profession and the community. The HCBA Bar Leadership Institute aims to identify and develop young attorneys of diverse backgrounds who have the potential to grow into future HCBA and community leaders.
Alexis Buese practices in all aspects of commercial litigation, including contract disputes, real estate and consumer class action litigation. She represents a wide variety of individuals and businesses, including hedge funds, oil and gas companies, real estate developers and owners, numerous consumer goods manufacturers and retailers, and e-commerce companies. Alexis has tried cases to verdict in state and federal court, as well as resolved complex disputes through arbitration. She has significant experience enforcing arbitral rights and awards and routinely consults with clients and transactional counsel to provide advice regarding the drafting and enforcement of alternative dispute provisions.
Jounice Nealy-Brown is a member of the Business Litigation practice group and advises clients in litigation matters, including employment discrimination and probate issues. Jounice is a member of the Executive Committee of the St. Petersburg Bar Association. She joined Gunster after serving as a federal judicial law clerk for The Honorable Anthony E. Porcelli and The Honorable Mary S. Scriven, both of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division.
