Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that William J. Schifino, Jr., a distinguished shareholder and esteemed member of the firm’s board of directors, has been re-appointed by The Florida Bar to the Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission. Schifino's new term commenced on January 1st and will span six impactful years.
The Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission is an independent state agency entrusted with the critical mission of investigating allegations of judicial misconduct or disability concerning Florida judges. The Commission is composed of six judges, five laypersons selected by the Governor, and four Florida Bar members, all working collaboratively to uphold the integrity and standards of the judiciary.

Schifino is a board-certified specialist in the area of business litigation. He served as president of The Florida Bar for the 2016-2017 term and previously served eight years as a member of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Additionally, Schifino serves on the board of the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce, collaborating with fellow Chamber leaders and local business leaders to shape the policy priorities of the Tampa Bay business community. He is also on the Board of Directors for Metropolitan Ministries, a volunteer and donor fueled nonprofit organization that aids homeless and at-risk men, women and children in the Tampa Metro area.
Schifino earned his B.A. from Tulane University and J.D. from University of Florida Levin College of Law.
