Gunster shareholder Mike Tanner was sworn in as the Florida Bar's 73rd president in early June. Recently, news outlets such as the Jacksonville Business Journal, the Florida Bar Journal and Law360 have published articles discussing the priorities Tanner has in his new role.
Among Tanner's planned initiatives is to address the balance between remote and in-person operations. "Some of our members think that everything should remain remote, and some think that some types of proceedings like calendar calls and routine hearings should always be remote," Tanner said. "And other members believe you lose something important if you're not in the courthouse."
Tanner goes on to describe his goals for improved professionalism and access to justice.
