News

The Florida-Times Union recently published an article featuring Gunster Shareholder Mike Freed, who serves as president of the National Conference of Bar Presidents, discussing his call for attorneys nationwide to donate their time to those in need. In the article, which was also picked up by USA Today, U.S. News & World Report, Orlando Sentinel, Associated Press, WJCT News (NPR) and several other news outlets, Freed encourages lawyers to help prevent evictions for those struggling financially.

Freed highlights U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland's letter asking lawyers to donate their time, using as an example his Freed to Run platform, a six-day series of six marathons to raise money for the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid.

"Sometimes you have to give up your time without compensation for the greater good," Freed explains.
