WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (December 3, 2019) – Gunster, one of Florida’s oldest and largest full-service business law firms, is pleased to announce that business litigation attorney Michael Freed has been named as one of First Coast News 2019 “12 Who Care.”
Freed believes in supporting important causes that affect the community. His “12 Who Care” Community Service Award is based on Freed's 2017 creation of Freed to Run; six marathons in six days to raise money and awareness for Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA). To date, Freed to Run has raised more than $400,000 with a goal of raising $2.25 million by 2023, which includes a 125% matching gift from Baptist Health Foundation.
"Everybody has the ability to figure out what they are passionate about, and then to find ways to support that cause," says Freed. "So that is just what I did, and I encourage others to do the same."
First Coast News, Jacksonville's ABC/NBC affiliate duopoly, recently reinstated the 12 Who Care Community Service Award. This award annually honors 12 people in northeast Florida and southeast Georgia who give back without asking for anything in return.
Freed is a trial lawyer with a wealth of experience in the courtroom and arbitrations, administrative proceedings and other forms of dispute resolution. He is board certified in business litigation; his practice spans a wide range of substantive legal disciplines and specialized industries. Freed also serves as counsel for a variety of companies, with regular involvement in personnel matters, labor relations, contract negotiations, insurance, risk analysis, and strategic planning.
